Dance hall music, like most music, is a form of self expression. It is an art form through which the entertainers explore and relate the events and issues of their lives. In dancehall’s infancy, the message was predominantly light-hearted and even humorous, and it was always kept more or less clean. That is not the case anymore today dance hall music has changed to a new era, by popular dance hall artist like vybz kartel, Movado, Aidonia and many more. These big time artists plays a great role in young people lives today. These artist should stop promote violence and sexual insult to young women.
My fellow classmate and friends take a good look of this video that i am posting up of two young girls fighting over Gaza and Gully, this is one of the negative impact dancehall music have on young people.

ReplyDeletemusic is very influential be it positive or negative. however, the youth today lean more to dance hall musics, this type of music is seen as having a negative effect on the young, since they are engaging violent behaviors such as fighting and cursing over the artiste who sing dancehall. I remember christmas eve on my way home to young men fought on the moving bus over Gaza and Gully causing the bus to come to a stop and people running for their life. Am convince that this style of music is not correct nor does educate but it causes the young to engage in alot of wrong doings take for instance the words ramp, thump are words that can cause men to beat up women or even rape them.
ReplyDeleteI believe that each individual with a strong mindset may not be influenced as strongly as though that are weak... Therefore we should encourage from an early age a sense of independence in showing the youth what is right and what is wrong... Some individuals learn from other persons mistakes but others need to learn from their own and let's face it.. If we don't make mistakes we aren't really living so allowing them to make the small mistakes will later prevent them from making the big mistakes like this video
